Devastation/Lighthouse Anthem (12)

In fear of a British invasion, asylum patient John McCarthy built a fort on the swampy terrain above the Northern tip of the island (it was a mini island connected to R.I.). He was persuaded to surrender the fort with bribes of bogus money. After which supposedly another patient (or alias) Thomas Maxey then built the lighthouse in the design of Architect James Renwick (1870’s).
