Archive of Lost Thought featuring the Lost Rooms collection at the NADA street fair in NYC this July.

Submit to Subliminal Statements

Submission call is past. The next issue will be out in the early fall and it is going to be GREAT!

The next issue of Subliminal Statements will feature articles on land: its life alone and with ours. This issue will explore how the land lives, interacts with us and how we interact with it. Your articles can be literal, scientific or beyond.

Under Island in E.P.A.

Documentation from the Under Island project will be on view at the E.P.A. (Environmental Performance Actions) Exhibition open March 15-May 16 at Exit Underground, Exit Art’s new archive, performance and exhibition space.

Just Published: SHNYS Tunebook

The Society has published a hardcover tunebook featuring all 53 shape note songs written during our summer tour of the Erie Canal with the Subliminal History of New York State.

Each song is accompanied by texts written by Carrie contextualizing the words and music, as well as occasional illustrations of how the poems were performed as participatory readings during the tour.

Call for Submissions: Statements 3

For our third issue, Subliminal Statements asks you to help us grapple with phenomena in the solar system. We want your writings about all manner of celestial objects and subjects. Tell us your story about a planet, moon, comet, or body here on earth. Describe it, uncover it, recount its implications. Tell us how it effects us.

Subliminal History at Eyebeam

Come to Eyebeam Sept. 27, 6 PM for the opening of Interference. Eyebeam is located at 540 West 21st Street, NYC.

The show includes Subliminal History of New York State: Route of Progress (2007) an installation of community-shot video, original shape note songs and ephemera from this summer’s Route of Progress tour.

Jesse and Carrie will lead a shape note singing workshop (1-4 PM) and performance (5-6 PM) at Eyebeam on October 13

The exhibition will run through Nov. 10.
