Niagara Falls
This is an unofficial visit to Niagara Falls!
Our wonderful Lockport host Cindy called and got us some comps to the sites and experiences. Before Jesse had to run of to Alabama to sing we went to the Cave of the Winds, it was awesome! Where Canada has a better view, the U.S. makes up for it in proximity!
You can get really close and then yell!
Besides that we talked to a room full of tour guides on lunch break about how they build the walkway which they are very proud of. There are 6 people on the construction crew and they remake the walkway every year, because in the winter the freezing ice would destroy it if they didn’t. The walkway differs from year to year and the crew decides on the job how the walkway will go, there is no one specifically in charge! He showed us some pictures of past years, they were very proud of the walkway, and other guides were envious of their job, (though seemed to enjoy their own jobs as well.)
Besides – every spring they let loose the frozen ice buildup from the shallow lake Erie and all the ice breaks apart as it flows over the falls. Nobody knows when this day will be until the temperature is just right that’s when it happens.
By the way, the Niagara River runs North!
