Lockport
We have performed our fourth subliminal history,
in Lockport. It was a small and active crowd filled with the sounds of canal rocks (from the canal!) snakes (from rattlesnake hill!) swallows (from under one of the widest bridges in the world) our voices (from Lockport, Buffalo, West Virginia and beyond!).
Lockport has one of the widest bridges, on our canal boat ride we saw swallows living underneath it:
Under the Widest Bridge
under the stars at night
beneath the widest bridge
the swallows fly and dip
above the waterway
Thinking of the creations from lockport (the fire hydrant, steam heat and more) A place of many containers including cartons, glass bottles and fiberboard, are these containments learned from nature, and the porousness of the land here made up of shale, a good place also to hold chemicals as was seen in the nearby Love Canal.
Containment:
pumping fires from a tunnel
a tunnel filled with water
steam heat and radiators meet
all under her streets there are caves
liquids caught amidst the shale shelf
air bubbles land like cartons
all that is solid melts in air (K.M.)
where chemicals fill our pockets
